Museums

Two of Belgrade's most important museums, the National Museum and the Museum of Contemporary Art, are closed indefinitely for renovations and lack of government funding. Fortunately,  there are plenty of other smaller scale museums that offer visitors insight in Serbia's past.

Two of my personal favorites are the Nikola Tesla Museum and the House of Flowers. The Tesla Museum is interactive and visitors are encouraged to make electricity with Tesla coils. House of Flowers houses Tito and his wife's graves, and illustrates some of the highlights of Josip Broz Tito's incredible and highly successful life.

At the airport you can find the Yugoslav Aviation Museum. Even though it is a little harder to get to it is well worth the trip to see many different antique planes from the history of Yugoslavia's aviation.
